Genius Loci - Obzor

Atmospheric Sound Design

This summer I got the chance to visit a very nice holiday resort in Bulgaria located near the town of Obzor. Of course, my trusty microphone went with me (as did the camera), because the sea always attracted my attention, soothed my mind and made me feel like home.
I immediately liked the place, partly because of the fact that even if it was crowded at times, there was always a chance to find a place where I could hunt for sounds without being disturbed...Well, maybe it was due to the fact that I was just one of a few visitors, who used to get up at 5:30 am...
Anyway, soon my collection of sounds got bigger and bigger, and I knew this could make a nice collection of meditative, relaxing sounds. Later, when reviewing all the various samples (from sea waves to flags flapping in the wind, a swimming pool drain to wind howling on a hotel staircase, banisters, or a night-light), I realized I had a kind of a “portrait” of a place under my fingers, which could inspire one to create, to invent, to dream, whatever... I felt the Genius loci - the “spirit of the place” was present and made this happen.

A library that travels you to the beach :)
Atom Hub - THE sound design genius
Atom Hub made a huge and really good sounding library! Nice Atmos, Guitar sounds etc. It's a nice treasure trove.
An inspiring library!
Atomhub has a knack for developing unique sample libraries based on interesting source material that function as both brilliant tools for sound design and fully realized, immediately playable instruments. Something else that I find Atomhub does better than just about any dev out there is create products that provide nearly instant inspiration and evoke vivid imagery that really helps kickstart the music making process. To that end, this library in particular is easily one of my favorites.
The standalone instrument patches are great! The flutes in particular really hit the spot, and I very rarely find myself tweaking any of the preset patches because I love the default sound of each patch (though having the option to do so is of course appreciated).
Some of my personal favorite patches include 'Cave of Crabs', 'Dreamy Synth', 'Plucked Flute Rain Drops', 'Sea Guitar', and 'Sea Pad'. When I load up the library, these are typically my go-to patches. I've also used a number of the patches oriented towards sound design for ambient background noise and sound effects to quickly add atmosphere to audio dramas and the like.
At this price point, you'd be hard pressed to find another sample library this multi-faceted and fully featured. Easily worth the price of admission!
The developer explains that this library was created on an extended vacation. When you load this up, that’s exactly what it feels like. Each patch is like a window into moments that were experienced during his trip. I really enjoy how he turned the sounds of moths flying around lights, the sea, and other unique local instruments into very usable material.
This library is an experience for sure.
