An inspiring and beautiful instrument. Simple to use with a straight to the point interface. A mesmerising rootsy Violin instrument for Kontakt. Great for injecting a little folk, blues swagger into your pallet!
Please note - The FULL version of Kontakt 5.8.1 is required (Not Kontakt player)
Version 1.5 Update:
- A massive overhaul of the samples, including detailed fine tuning of note starts and fixing a couple of rosin based note squeaks.

Love At First Scrape
I am now ready to score Ken Burn's "Civil War II." I love this thing. So simple to play and sound good. The articulations, reverb and delay just work great together and can go from sweet melancholy to beautiful chaos. This thing is just done so well. I have a banjo and a dobro, and banjo and dobro Kontakt libraries, but if Insanity Samples puts out a banjo and a dobro library, I'll probably just snap 'em right up. If you don't like Folk Fiddle, we can't be friends.

Just one small thing would make this perfect
Love using this for mideastern sounding instruments. The articulations are wonderful. If the pitch wheel could automatically be assigned to the instrument, it would be even better. Tried doing this myself with no success. Most other violin or fiddle patches include this. Minus one star for that, but all in all, a very credible sounding fiddle in a world where there are few.
I fell in love with Folk Fiddle. It has everything you need to make a convincing track in country, pop, or any other type of genre. Great sound and easy to use right out of the gate.
Folk Fiddle - nice tone!
Although there are limited parameter controls on efx, the natural tone of this fiddle is among the best I've heard and there's enough articulations to create some nice arrangements
A Fiddler at Your Fingers
Given the notorious difficult timbre and - relative to a standard violin player - eccentric transitions and staccatos inherent in both fiddles and their players, Insanity Samples (IS) turned me from a skeptic into a fast fan.
Versatile, vibrant performances were captured for this instrument, and the developer's diligence in capturing the real spirit of the "un-violinish" way that fiddlers are able to coax such emotional and playful melodies, legatos, and phrases is truly impressive and incredibly musical. The samples are both raw and detailed, and are of a high-fidelity sonically; and yet, IS has made the interface easily playable and intuitive...devs of simpler virtual instruments - i.e., those less dynamic across timbre, tone, and expressiveness than a fiddle - could also learn a lot here.
To be clear, I hadn't even heard of the developer previously, but once I watched and listened a bit, my curiousity was piqued....and this little gem not only fit the bill and got me out of a bind - but it's inspired me to use the fiddle in different forms in my compositions to great effect thus far. Quick version: if you need a fiddle for a specific project, and are lacking the desire, need, or time to script/automate a performance in to ensure the resulting performance's authenticity and quality...do yourself a favor and pick this up. Cheers to Insanity Samples, and I look forward to more awesome releases like this one!
Fake Fiddle, Meet Folk Fiddle!
This is a great fiddle for you synthetic DAW. Allows pitch bending and slurs and staccatos and all the things that distinguish a fiddle from a violin. It will only play samples within the actual range of a fiddle, so it sounds more realistic and it includes some reverb (to taste) and delays (also to taste). Glad I purchased this.
Can\'t stop fiddling about!
Insanity Samples Folk Fiddle is a nice little instrument with useful articulations and excellent sound quality. The handling might take a while to get used to but once you get into it time flies by quickly.
I would have liked to have more of the little flourishes (slides, mordents and such) because they're what makes this instrument stand out and lends authenticity to the performance. And when you have used them in a couple of songs you might get tired of them.
Also, it would be cool if the could add some sort of sequencer so you easily can program some "chug rhythms" useful for folk music of the American kind.
I bought this fiddle on sale and I'm quite satisfied but I probably wouldn't pay full price for it.
Awesome sounding sample that really fits the folk genre sounds great in my songs!
can easily get sound really authentic sounds from this !
When needed, can\'t be beated!
Good sound. Articulations work well in the folk genre. A little tricky to play the key switching on the fly. Nicely priced.
Excellent fiddle for the price. It sadly doesn't feature any legato patches, but that's understandable due to the low price point. The tone and realism on display with this library, believe it or not, is actually BETTER in my opinion than the other fiddle libraries that cost 100-200 dollars. Lots of articulations, easy to use, and the tone is amazing.
