Colossal Toms is an ensemble of eight separately playable toms, with tunings from large and deep to high. One of the things that really makes this library stand out, easy to use, and realistic, is that we tried to max out the velocity layers, so each hit has up to 127 different, separately recorded dynamics.
This means, on top of the fact that you virtually eliminate the problem of hearing one sample twice too soon, creating an artificial sound, but you can obtain extremely realistic performances.
Full version of Kontakt 5.1 required. Not for Kontakt Player
A loud section can be easily scaled down in dynamics, due to the fact that there are so many velocity layers. The instrument is also compatible with both version 4 and 5 of Kontakt, and comes with a close mic position, and hall mic position.
Each drum has been played with varied techniques, including soft mallets, sticks, sticks with newspaper on the drum, rims, hands, brushes etc.
Click each of the drum icons on the interface to load and unload that particular drum. Unloaded drums will appear on the keyboard interface as black, and loaded drums with active samples will be shown as blue keys.

I am happy to buy this library inexpensive.
So many velocity layer were useful for more reality.
The only disappointing thing was ..
Some of the layers were stacked in reverse.
So I fixed them.
Straight to the target
Quality results with no fuss.
No need to get lost in endless choices, just use the great sounds straight and get the results you want. Fast and to the point.
Easy and it works, delivering results.
Solid sound, Affordable
A very solid, useful, spacious toms package at a very affordable price. The side sticks are a good touch as well
70-80% off is a good price for this product. The sound is good at this price.
My go to library for epic Toms.
Decent percussion library for the price although it is just Toms. The sheer number of velocity layers and Round Robins makes for a realistic programming. I don't use it alone, as in as the sole Toms library, but as a part of the whole 'epic' percussion section, it blends in pretty nice. I'm happy :)
Pretty good set of sounds
Of course there are better libraries of percussion and I own some of them, but these are still useful and for the price a no-brainer.
Good for the price
Interesting sound. Not too epic and not too thin. You can use it to layer an other percussion library
I can't stress enough how incredible this library is to me as a soundtrack composer. In using it I have experienced none of the frustrations that I have with many other percussion libraries. It's intuitive and non-tedious, but still has a fantastic range of sounds and has enabled me to create some of the best drum lines in my career. Every tone feels human, and it almost seems like it was created to be messed around with. Even when shifting the pitch, they still sounded organic and not like they were modified with a computer, adding even more depth to the creative potential. I cannot recommend this enough to someone looking to add a new level of cinematicness to their music.
