The “Ancient Hurdy Gurdy” is a Hurdy Gurdy Library for Kontakt 5. The Hurdy Gurdy is an instrument that is older than thousand years.
With its absolutely unique sound it is well known as a medieval instrument that is still often being played on medieval events. And as a very unique member of the stringed instruments family it can be used to create very special audio-colors.

Smoky and Roaring Voice
Taleweaver Orchestra took it upon themselves to capture the smoky and roaring voice of this wonderful, special French Lady and make it ready for your own musical creations. This lady is a true shieldmaiden: tough, spirited and aggressive but also romantic.
The “Ancient Hurdy Gurdy” has become a precious asset of the “Ancient Series”.
One of the best Hurdy Gurdies
This is one of the best hurdy gurdy sound libraries based on the quality of the samples. The approach is minimalistic with almost no articulations, but the sound is very realistic and with a bit of work it can be made sounding great. The samples are dry enough for further sound manipulation/enhancement and you can add some native resonance with Pan Spread knob. There is also a knob for key release sounds. The responsivity is excellent. The drones sound is natural but there is no hurdy gurdy wheel articulation, so you will have to produce it by notes or MIDI messages. With all its limitations, the library is very good and worth the price which, by the way, is very affordable.
I am longing to Hardy Gades ancient atmosphere.
This librarys sounds were good.
Atmospheres of Drone and bowing I like them.
I use this with a little editing. e.f. Filtering or Pseudo Legato e.t.c...
Just a hard instrument to sample I think
I really don't like the sound of this, at all. Not a bad company, the other sounds in the Ancient Strings bundle are good. This one was the one I was most excited about, and it just sounds terrible. It doesn't sound like the Hurdy Gurdy videos I've seen on YouTube and is VERY difficult to use correctly in a track. There is no Legato or performance based options, so the harsh attack is on every note you play. Only useful for drones, nothing else.
There are very few Hurdy Gurdy libraries out there. This one is simple to use, and sounds really good.
