Version: Kontakt 4.2.4 / WAV / V1
Cinematically Mangled Vinyl Recordings
Download Method: Kontakt Hub
If you're familiar with classical pieces from Gygory Ligeti such as Lux Aeterna... then you already know what to expect with Forgotten Songs. This sort of ever evolving creeptastic choir vibe is the sound we were after for the library... albeit a bit more synthetic in tone.
Please ensure you have the FULL version of Kontakt. This will only load in demo mode with the Free Kontakt Player
Mangled Vinyl Recordings
Through stretching, tweaking, maming, destroying, and processing various clips from old public domain vinyl recordings from the 1930s, we have achieved it. The end result is extremely creepy as some of these pads have a 10 or 20 second buildup stemming from insanely stretched choir or orchestra sounds. Also included are looped versions of many patches. Combined with the LFO control on the mod wheel and Attack / EQ controls on the GUI you can create some very organic and constantly moving creepout pads. The toggle able convolution reverb makes these sound HUGE. Forgotten Songs is also a nice addition to your arsenal if you're an artist specializing in ambient or chillout as these sounds cater to that genre rather well.
Bad Croon Rising
Really effective for adding tension to soundtracks, games or, as my preference, spooky hip hop tune backing. Good label, look forward to trying out their other libraries in future.
For this price, these are fantastic sounds!!! Congratulations!
I purchased this based on the YouTube demos and have completely fallen in love with it. LOVE the sounds, very ethereal, creepy and unsettling in a beautiful way.
UnEarthed Sampling – True sound design which is affordable
Rich Douglas, the founder and owner of UnEarthed Sampling, is one of “THE” greatest sound designers in in my opinion. Everything is top notch and excellently sampled and programmed. Just buy it! It’s worthwhile.
Interesting UnEarth Atmospheres in Forgotten Songs
I was curious because of the special offer for already a low cost VST/AU. I use it in my KOMPLETE 11 setup. It's a great add-on to what I already have.
I like this very much . Price/return : The Max.
Go for it ... And Forgotten Songs ! Again a score. I already loved the Oxypops application. Congrats... It makes me happy.
Yes the UI is functional to be fair, but it's the sound that matters and it's definitely the right side of individual and unnerving. You wan haunting choirs that are different to the rest, this is them.
Good Sound, Bad UI
SOUND QUALITY: 4; FEATURES: 3; PRESETS: 3; EASY OF USE: 5; INNOVATION: 2; VALUE FOR MONEY: 4; CONCLUSION: The sound is nice and evocative, but not the highest quality. Very limited internal sound modelling - an elementary UI. Good when on a discounted price.
First impression wasn't great - very basic UI (attack, 3-band EQ boost/cut, volume and on-off reverb switch), and it was easy to make many of the presets peak within Kontakt within a few seconds of playing them - but digging deeper revealed some real treasures. Quite a lot of dissonant/dischordant pads, but there's some quite beautiful sounds in there too. Useful for unsettling background textures or transcendent one (two at most)-finger pad swells.
A bit disappointing
I expected more presets and variety. There are 2 sounds that I actually used, but I don't think I'll find any more use for this instrument. It's too bad, because the concept was really interesting.
Nice and weird. Useful !
Odd But Not Forgettable - Diggin\' It!
This is an odd beast but it is sooo cool to layer in behind your drum or pad tracks, slap it with a pattern-gate and get creative, etc. It's one of those hidden gems that gives your sound something in the background that makes other producers go..."what IS that patch?" Thanks for the creative ideas and product!
The ligety inspiration for this is hearable.
Very good etheral choir like sounds, which come dronish. Very dark.
You get plenty of patches and the dynamics are controllable with the mod wheel.
Hint: Better put a limiter on the track where this instrument has been routed. It can get loud.
Quite a lot of interesting sounds awaits in this library. However, I don't really find that it is quite as much Ligeti-feeling as promised. But could come in handy.
Mellow and wide
Many intruments to bring rich atmosphere. Sounds are minor-ish, can be used alone as pads or in mix with others.
I’ve been loving all the libraries recently that use public domain as a sample source. This library fits the bill exactly. It is haunting but also beautiful. It is great for horror stuff but I also find its good if you want to add some edge or character to any genre. It can deliver something very unexpected for the listener.
The library is designed well and you can tell the designer put a lot of care into making it. You can even bounce patched into your own sampler and go about making things even more interesting by layering.
Fantastic little library
Mysterious and subjective sounds. You must have it !
